Top Taco 2021 Proudly Presents the BBQ Taco Showdown for VIP Only!
Sponsored by Patrón Tequila, Deep Eddy Vodka, Bud Light Seltzer, Pepsi, Colorado Native Foods, and Raquelitas Tortillas, this year’s Top Taco VIP experience will be a one-of-a-kind battle for best BBQ taco, featuring seven of Denver’s most elite Pitmasters!
Top Taco 2021 will bring VIP ticket holders a can’t-miss culinary exclusive event in which seven of Denver’s most critically-acclaimed BBQ experts go head-to-head to try and dish up the evening’s winning barbecue taco. Witness Denver’s premier pitmasters in action with live cooking demos in a small and intimate setting. Then gear up for seven mouthwatering, fingerlicking, tender, juicy, BBQ-focused tacos available to VIP guests only. VIP tacos will be served alongside VIP craft cocktails from Patrón Tequila and Deep Eddy Vodka, plus an assortment of cold beers and hard seltzers from Anheuser-Busch. All VIP guests will receive a single voting token when they enter the secluded VIP BBQ arena in order to crown the Top Taco 2021 VIP Champion.
Top Taco 2021 will be held Thursday, August 26, at The Stanley Marketplace. Entry for VIP ticket holders begins at 6:00 p.m. All food and beverages are included in the ticket price.

Meet the VIP BBQ Taco Contenders
Rolling Smoke BBQ – 2501 Dallas St, Aurora
Oklahoma native and founder of Rolling Smoke, Terry Walsh specializes in Southern-style, slow-smoked meats. Catering to all barbecue cravings, the menu showcases Smoked Turkey Breast, Burnt Ends, and Honey Bourbon Sausage, along with all the classics, like Pork Spare Ribs and Beef Brisket. The secret ingredient behind Rolling Smoke’s deliciousness? A little bit of wood and a whole lot of time.
GQue BBQ – 5160 W 120th Ave, Unit K, Westminster
The “Sultan of Swine” and “Maestro of Meat,” Jason Ganahal of GQue is a decorated barbecue champion who knows how to bring the heat. GQue BBQ lays claim to Denver’s barbecue scene, offering meticulously crafted signature sandwiches for dine-in and fresh meats by the pound for take-away. Bragging the “finest quality meats, best seasonings, and freshest ingredients,” GQue has won dozens of competitions and awards, most recently taking first place at Denver’s Chicken Fight Festival.
Owlbear Barbecue – 2826 Larimer St, Denver
Owlbear pitmaster Karl Fallenius apprenticed under legendary Texas barbecue buff Aaron Franklin — and it shows. Owlbear’s trophy menu item is a 12-hour-smoked, melt-in-your-mouth brisket seasoned with an intoxicating mix of brown sugar, coffee grounds, and a signature combo of barbecue spices. Most recently, Owlbear was crowned with Westword’s 2021 Best of Denver Barbecue Award.
H3SH3R BBQ CO. – Food Truck
Eat your way around the world with twisted takes on barbecue styles from across the globe at H3SHER BBQ CO. From Chef Jeff Gebott and restaurateur Tony Fitzgeralot, H3RSH3R is not your traditional wings and brisket. This fun, funky menu dives into the unexpected, spanning global flavors such as Korean BBQ Tacos, south of the border mac n’ cheese, and Asian sticky ribs.
Barbosa’s Barbecue – Food Truck
A South Texas native, pitmaster Alejandro Barbosa is committed to tried and true live-fire barbecue. His offerings of expertly smoked beef brisket, beef cheek barbacoa, caramelized pork belly, and red chile brisket enchiladas have not only earned him a slot on the Cooking Channel’s “Man Fire Food,” but a loyal base of barbecue buffs willing to follow his food trailer all across Colorado.
Hank’s Texas Barbecue – 5410 E Colfax Ave, Denver
Hailing from the kitchen line at Old Major — once the fresh meat mecca of Denver — Chef Christopher Nicki is no stranger to slicing, smoking, and searing. Nicki brings a taste of his hometown to the Mile High with this tribute to Texas-style smoked meats: Hank’s Texas Barbecue. Here, “lower and slower” is the motto, and the secret to success is simple: fresh ingredients, quality meat, classic recipes, and patience. At Woodhill Small Batch BBQ they believe award-winning barbecue comes in small batches because “quality is better than quantity!” At Top Taco 2019, Woodhill took second place in the VIP BBQ Taco Showdown with its show-stopping slow-smoked brisket taco, layered with fresh pico de gallo, elote crema, peach-apricot habanero sauce, and cotija cheese.
